Higher Education Now Playing a Role in Diversifying the Cannabis Industry
With the cannabis industry booming, it's crucial to ensure diversity and inclusion, especially for communities historically impacted by cannabis prohibition. While more educational institutions are offering cannabis-related courses, addressing the lack of diversity in these programs remains a challenge.
OCHBS spoke with Brandy Phipps, an assistant professor at Central State University, the only HBCU in Ohio to receive a $10 million USDA grant for hemp research. Phipps and her team are conducting innovative research on hemp, involving students from diverse majors and engaging with local communities.
Conference Dates Set: October 6 & 7 in Cleveland
The Ohio Cannabis Health & Business Summit (OCHBS) will be held on October 6th and 7th, 2023 at the IX Center in Cleveland. The event is aimed at both the general public and those working in the cannabis and CBD industries, with over 100 exhibitors and speakers covering topics such as cultivation, processing, packaging, business services, and retail/dispensary.
Speaker applications are being accepted until July 1, 2023, and the full agenda will be released in August. OCHBS is a cannabis education event and expo that serves as a resource for the industry and is focused on the Midwest.
